Severe Flash Floods Hit Marion County, Arkansas
Northern Arkansas, particularly Marion County, experienced severe flash flooding on Wednesday morning after receiving 6 to 11 inches of rain within a few hours, prompting a rare flash flood emergency. Over 80 residents were evacuated from a nursing home in Yellville, and 40 more from their homes in Flippin. Infrastructure damage included washed-out bridges and flooded roads, with emergency personnel conducting water rescues. The National Weather Service warned of potentially catastrophic damage, as the rainfall rates were described as a once-in-500-year event. Officials urged residents to avoid traveling through flooded areas for safety. Flood warnings also extended to parts of southeastern Kansas and southern Missouri, including Branson.
