Cinco de Mayo and Fiesta San Antonio Expand

San Antonio hosted its 134th annual Battle of Flowers Parade on May 2, 2025, as part of Fiesta San Antonio, drawing thousands with the theme 'Melodies in Bloom: A Texas Serenade' and organized by an all-woman team. The city's festivities will continue with the Fiesta Flambeau night parade. Across the U.S., Cinco de Mayo celebrations are expanding, with cities such as Cincinnati, Columbus, and Wilmington hosting festivals, food specials, and cultural events to honor Mexico’s 1862 victory over France at Puebla. Although Cinco de Mayo is not widely celebrated in Mexico outside Puebla, it has become a major cultural and commercial event in the U.S., particularly since the Chicano Movement. Restaurants and bars nationwide are offering deals, live music, and community gatherings, highlighting both the holiday's historical significance and its evolving American tradition. These celebrations across the country reflect the blending of historical remembrance with festive community engagement.
