Assumption Wins First KHSAA Fast-Pitch Softball State Title

Assumption High School's softball team won its first KHSAA fast-pitch state championship by defeating defending champions Henderson County 4-2 at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington. Key contributions came from Jaelynn Oaks and sophomore Grace Sander, who drove in critical runs in the seventh inning, while Lauren Campisano secured the pitching win. Senior pitcher Lauren Satterly was also instrumental throughout the tournament, leading the team both on the mound and at the plate. In the semifinals, Assumption overcame Lawrence County 7-2, highlighted by nine stolen bases and Satterly's dominant performance. The Rockets' victory marks a historic milestone, adding to their 1985 slow-pitch title and solidifying their standing among Louisville's athletic champions. The team finished the season with an impressive 35-6 record.
