Norwalk Man Arrested in Fatal 4 a.m. Moped Crash

Chrishod Johnson, 33, of Norwalk, Connecticut, was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter, operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and operating in violation of a limited license after a fatal crash just before 4 a.m. on April 13. The crash happened at the intersection of West Avenue and Reed Street, where Johnson allegedly struck 52-year-old moped rider Jose Olavarria, who later died at Norwalk Hospital. Norwalk police conducted a comprehensive investigation, including surveillance footage review, witness interviews, and crash reconstruction. Johnson was arrested after a warrant was issued based on the evidence. He is being held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on August 14. The incident is among several deadly moped accidents in Connecticut this year.
