Three Injured, Dog Killed in Stolen Car Crash on A96
A serious crash on the A96 at Newton of Petty, near Inverness, involved a stolen red Vauxhall Corsa and a black Volvo XC60, resulting in three people being hospitalized and a dog dying at the scene. The 50-year-old female driver of the stolen Corsa and a 74-year-old female passenger of the Volvo were airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, while the 74-year-old male driver of the Volvo was taken by road ambulance to Raigmore Hospital. The Corsa was reported stolen earlier from the Buckie area. Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses, particularly those with dashcam footage, to assist in their ongoing investigation into the crash and the events leading up to it. The A96 was closed for several hours during the crash investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Police Scotland, quoting incident number 0755 of July 18, 2025.
