Nike Unveils Project Amplify, Teases New Tech
Nike unveiled Project Amplify, a powered footwear system pairing a carbon-fiber plated running shoe with a rechargeable calf cuff housing a lightweight motor, drive belt and battery developed with robotics partner Dephy and motion algorithms from Nike’s Sport Research Lab. Nike says trials involved 400+ testers and millions of steps of data, and that some users saw roughly 15–20% energy savings, pace improvements toward about 10‑minute miles for slower runners, and up to about 10 km of powered running per charge; the shoe can be worn with or without the robotic assist. Nike is pitching Amplify as an “e‑bike for your feet” for everyday joggers, walkers and mobility‑impaired users rather than elite competitors, and the technology remains in early testing with no consumer release date or pricing announced. The company also teased other tech-forward products including neuroscience-driven Mind 001/002 (Mind 002 due January 2026) and an Aero‑FIT cooling jersey as part of a broader push toward patented innovation. Nike said the product push is part of CEO Elliott Hill’s strategy to revive growth as the company navigates competition and inventory challenges.
