Broadway Plans 2026 Premiere of The Balusters with Star-Studded Cast

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced the initial casting for the Broadway world premiere of The Balusters, a new comedy play by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon. The production is scheduled to open in spring 2026 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre and features Marylouise Burke, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Margaret Colin, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Richard Thomas in leading roles. The Balusters centers on the Vernon Point Neighborhood Association, a small, passionate community thrown into turmoil when a member proposes installing a stop sign on their prettiest block, sparking a neighbor-versus-neighbor battle. The play promises a raucous, wild ride through local disputes and community dynamics, continuing Lindsay-Abaire’s history of acclaimed works at MTC. Additional casting and creative team members will be announced later, with tickets to be made available closer to the opening date. This production adds to MTC’s notable season, which includes other premieres and reimaginings both on and off Broadway.
