New York City Center Announces Bat Boy Gala Cast Revival

New York City Center is staging the Annual Gala Presentation of Bat Boy: The Musical from October 29 to November 9, directed by two-time Tony winner Alex Timbers. The cast includes Taylor Trensch as Bat Boy, original Off-Broadway cast member Kerry Butler returning as Meredith Parker, Tony winners Alex Newell and Marissa Jaret Winokur, as well as Andrew Durand and Christopher Sieber among others. The musical is based on a 1990s tabloid story about a half-boy, half-bat discovered in a cave and adopted by a West Virginia family, exploring themes of acceptance and scapegoating. Featuring a pop-rock score by Tony nominee Laurence O’Keefe with expanded orchestrations by Tony winner Alex Lacamoire, the production also boasts scenic design by David Korins and choreography by Connor Gallagher. The gala will benefit Broadway producer Bee Carrozzini and City Center’s operating costs, aiming to keep performances accessible. The musical originally premiered Off-Broadway in 2001 and has since gained cult classic status.
