ASU Professor Wu Arrested in Child Sex Sting

Shiyou Wu, a 26-year-old associate professor at Arizona State University's School of Social Work, was arrested by Chandler police after allegedly arranging to meet for sex with someone he believed was a 15-year-old boy, who was actually an undercover officer using age-regressed or AI-generated photos. Court documents indicate Wu sent explicit photos, discussed sexual acts, and brought alcohol to the meeting location. Wu was charged with aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and child sex trafficking. He was initially held on a $100,000 bond and later released with electronic monitoring. ASU has placed Wu on administrative leave and barred him from campus and university activities during the ongoing investigation. The university has stated it cannot comment further due to the active personnel matter.
