Veteran Music Executive Mike Borchetta Dies at 84
Mike Borchetta, a veteran music industry executive known for his influential roles at major record labels and his work with iconic artists such as Tim McGraw, The Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, and The Four Seasons, passed away at age 84 surrounded by family. He served as president of Lofton Creek Records, where he helped produce the No. 1 hit "I Loved Her First" by Heartland, and was vice president of promotion at Curb Records, playing a key role in signing Tim McGraw. Borchetta’s career also included positions at Broken Bow, Capitol, RCA, Mercury, Philips Records, Rebel Engine, and his own promotion company, working across multiple genres. Tim McGraw expressed heartfelt condolences, reflecting on Borchetta's early belief in his talent and their friendship. Outside of music, Borchetta and his wife Martha bred and trained thoroughbred horses for many years. His children—Scott, Adelle, Chris, and Angela—have also pursued careers in the music industry, continuing his legacy.
