Deliberate Fire Damages Former Foyle College Site Londonderry
A large fire at the former Foyle College site on Duncreggan Road in Derry broke out on the evening of July 19, 2025, and is being treated as a deliberate act. Over 40 firefighters and multiple fire engines, including aerial units, responded to the blaze, which caused extensive damage but resulted in no injuries. Fire crews continued battling the fire into Sunday, with three appliances remaining on site to manage the situation. Residents nearby were advised to keep windows closed and bring pets indoors due to heavy smoke, while the road remained closed to traffic during firefighting efforts. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is investigating the incident and has appealed for any information from the public. Assistance was also provided by the Northern Ireland Electricity Service during the emergency response.
