Project Runway Designer Killed at Utah Protest

Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, a 39-year-old Samoan fashion designer and former 'Project Runway' contestant known as Afa, was fatally shot as a bystander during a 'No Kings' anti-Trump protest in Salt Lake City. The incident unfolded when Arturo Gamboa, a protester with a rifle, caused a peacekeeper to fire, unintentionally killing Ah Loo. Authorities charged Gamboa with murder, citing his role in provoking the deadly situation. Ah Loo was a leading advocate for Pacific Islander artists, co-founding Creative Pacific and Utah Pacific Fashion, and had recently designed for 'Moana 2' star Auliʻi Cravalho. He is survived by his wife and two young children, with a GoFundMe raising over $100,000 for his family. Ah Loo's death is believed to be the only fatality among thousands of protests nationwide that day.
