NFL Draft Prank Call Scandal Expands to Abdul Carter, Shedeur Sanders

The 2025 NFL Draft was overshadowed by a series of prank calls targeting several top prospects, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders and pass rusher Abdul Carter. Sanders, who fell to the fifth round before being picked by the Cleveland Browns, received a prank call orchestrated by Jax Ulbrich, son of Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich; this led to the NFL fining the Falcons $250,000 and the coordinator $100,000. Carter received a separate prank call from someone falsely claiming to represent the Jacksonville Jaguars moments before he was officially drafted third overall by the New York Giants, but he and his agent quickly realized the call was fake. Other prospects, such as Tyler Warren and Mason Graham, were also targeted in similar schemes. The NFL has stated that while some incidents appear unrelated, it is continuing to investigate the wider trend of prank calls during the draft. The incidents have raised concerns about the security of private contact information for draft prospects.
