Rust Prop Supplier Sues Baldwin, Producers

Seth Kenney and his company PDQ Arm & Prop filed a complaint in New Mexico on Oct. 22 suing Alec Baldwin and Rust producers for false light, conversion, unjust enrichment and tortious interference, and seeking compensatory and punitive damages. Kenney says he supplied the Colt .45 and dummy/blank rounds, rattle-tested the dummies, and alleges Baldwin and others misused his rental weapons, failed to pay, cut safety corners and allowed the loading, concealment and discharge of a live round. He claims defendants conspired with “cutthroat industry Hollywood ‘fixers’” and the media in a nationwide smear campaign that caused financial losses, reputational harm and an inability to find work. Kenney has served as a key witness in related prosecutions and says investigators never conclusively determined how live ammunition contaminated dummy rounds; Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted and served prison time. Representing himself, Kenney asks a jury to decide damages and seeks additional sums if the court finds reckless or malicious conduct.
