Paul Bales Elected IFTA Chair for 2025-2027 Term

Paul Bales, partner and COO of The Asylum, has been elected chairperson of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) for the 2025–2027 term, succeeding Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment. Bales has served on the IFTA board since 2015 and brings extensive experience from his work at The Asylum, known for genre productions like the Sharknado franchise. He joins a newly seated 15-member board that includes several new executives from leading independent production and distribution companies, with Scott Jones and Delphine Perrier serving their first terms. Bales emphasizes the importance of supporting independent filmmakers and navigating the current challenges facing the industry, highlighting the board's resilience and dedication. Jean Prewitt, IFTA President & CEO, praised Bales's leadership and commitment, noting the board's role in advancing the global influence of independent film and television. The election was announced ahead of IFTA's flagship event, the American Film Market, which returns to Los Angeles in November 2025.
