WNBA Launches Nationwide Campaign Painting Official Three-Point Line on Outdoor Courts
The WNBA has launched a nationwide initiative called “Line ‘Em Up” to promote inclusivity and representation for girls and women in basketball by painting the official WNBA three-point line on outdoor park courts across the United States. This campaign, highlighted by the league's signature orange color, aims to create a welcoming space where young female athletes can envision themselves playing and succeeding, inspired by professional WNBA players. The initiative includes donations to participating parks and will be officially launched with events in New York's Brooklyn Bridge Park and Indianapolis during WNBA All-Star Weekend. WNBA Chief Marketing Officer Phil Cook emphasized that this effort is about more than just marking a line—it symbolizes the league's identity and a space where women have historically lacked representation. Former player and WNBA head of league operations Bethany Donaphin shared how the campaign addresses the longstanding challenges girls have faced playing basketball in male-dominated park environments. The initiative is seen as a vital step in increasing accessibility, visibility, and participation in women’s basketball at the grassroots level.
