Affordable and Market-Rate Housing Projects Advance in US, UK
Several new affordable and market-rate housing developments have been proposed or commenced in the US and UK to meet diverse community needs. In Jamaica, Queens, Ohel Children’s Home and Family Services has filed plans for a 9-story, 94-unit rental building, pending demolition and setting no completion date. Coastline Housing has submitted applications for 35 affordable homes in Reawla, Cornwall, and a similar project in Lanner, aiming to address regional housing shortages. Persimmon Homes plans to build 104 homes with green amenities in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire, on land designated by local authorities. In Sunderland, a £23.6 million project will soon begin construction on 96 affordable rental homes to improve local housing access. Meanwhile, Flores Development has started work on the first of 27 new single-family homes in Columbus, Ohio, priced between $450,000 and $700,000, as part of a neighborhood revitalization effort.
