Square Enix Reveals Octopath Traveler 0, Adventures of Elliot for Switch 2

Square Enix has announced two new HD-2D RPGs during a recent Nintendo Direct: Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. Octopath Traveler 0, a prequel set in the realm of Orsterra, features a customizable protagonist, the ability to rebuild a destroyed hometown, and returns core series mechanics like the Break and Boost battle system; it launches on December 4, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The Adventures of Elliot is a new single-player action RPG set in a wide-open world with time-travel elements, releasing in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2 with a debut demo available. Additionally, Octopath Traveler 0 offers a collector’s edition priced at $229.99, including a digital deluxe edition code, themed playing cards, metal dice, and a map of Orsterra. Other notable releases announced for Nintendo Switch 2 include Once Upon a Katamari, Star Wars Outlaws, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Persona 3 Reload, with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and Monster Hunter Stories 3 also forthcoming. These announcements highlight Square Enix’s continued investment in the HD-2D RPG style and expanding game availability across multiple platforms.
