Wolves Sack Vítor Pereira After 10-Game Winless Start
Wolves have sacked head coach Vítor Pereira after a 10-game winless start to the 2025–26 Premier League season that left them bottom with two points and a -15 goal difference, with Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Fulham the immediate trigger. All eight of Pereira’s backroom staff have also left; Under-21 coach James Collins and Under-18 coach Richard Walker have been placed in temporary charge while the club searches for a permanent replacement. Wolves have discussed several candidates — notably former boss Gary O’Neil, Middlesbrough’s Rob Edwards and Michael Carrick — and an appointment is expected imminently. Reporting and analysis point to costly summer departures including Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nelson Semedo, heavy spending on players with limited Premier League experience, and recruitment and selection errors that have fuelled fan anger and criticism of chairman Jeff Shi and owners Fosun. With the side eight points adrift of safety and facing the real prospect of relegation, Wolves have become the first club to start consecutive top-flight seasons with 10-game winless runs, leaving any new manager a damaged squad and little margin for error.
