76ers, Mavericks Show Interest in Dennis Smith Jr.

Former NBA lottery pick Dennis Smith Jr., who spent the past season playing overseas with Real Madrid and did not appear in the NBA, is leading the Philadelphia 76ers' veteran minicamp as the team evaluates potential roster additions ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft. Smith, 27, has averaged 9.7 points and 4.2 assists over seven seasons with six NBA teams, including the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets. The Dallas Mavericks, Smith's original NBA team, are also planning to work him out, signaling renewed interest from multiple franchises. Smith was notably part of the trade that brought Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas. NBA teams use such minicamps to assess veterans and G League players for minimum-salary or two-way contracts. Smith's performance in these workouts could offer him another chance in the NBA for the upcoming season.
