Seven Detained, Four Charged in Louvre Heist

French authorities say at least seven people have been detained and four formally charged in the Oct. 19 theft of the Louvre’s crown jewels. Two suspects — aged 37 and 38 — were recently charged with organised theft and criminal conspiracy, and investigators say DNA identified other suspects including a 34‑year‑old Algerian detained at Charles de Gaulle airport and a 39‑year‑old whose DNA was found on broken glass. The jewels remain missing; authorities fear they may have been dismantled or altered to avoid detection, and prosecutors say they could offer deals if the items are recovered.
