FC Cincinnati Extends Midfielder Obinna Nwobodo Contract Through 2027

FC Cincinnati has secured Nigerian midfielder Obinna Nwobodo with a contract extension through the 2027 season, including a club option for 2028, underscoring his importance to the team. Since joining from Turkish club Göztepe SK in April 2022, Nwobodo has become a key figure in the midfield, making 117 appearances and starting 109 matches, with 91 MLS regular-season appearances ranking fourth all-time for the club. Known for his relentless playing style and leadership, Nwobodo led MLS in tackles in 2023 with 62 and has contributed two match-winning goals and 11 assists for FC Cincinnati. General Manager Chris Albright praised him as a fundamental part of the team's success and an exceptional teammate. Nwobodo has featured more for FC Cincinnati than any other club in his professional career, which began in 2015 with Nigeria's Rangers International, and he also represented Nigeria at the youth level as a Flying Eagle.
