Oregon Lands Top NY WR Messiah Hampton for 2026
Four-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton, the top-ranked football prospect in New York, has committed to the Oregon Ducks for the 2026 recruiting class after considering offers from major programs such as Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Miami, and Syracuse. Hampton, a standout from James Monroe High School in Rochester, posted 1,900 all-purpose yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior and is recognized for his speed and versatility as a receiver and return specialist. Oregon wide receivers coach Ross Douglas, who previously coached in the Northeast, played a pivotal role in securing Hampton's commitment. Hampton is the first wide receiver in Oregon's 2026 class, which now features eight commits and is ranked 33rd nationally, but is among the top five classes per recruit due to the high talent level. Development and coaching quality at Oregon were key factors in Hampton's decision. Under coach Dan Lanning, Oregon continues to build recruiting momentum and aims to surpass its previous record-setting classes.
