One Dead, Two Injured in Four-Car Crash in Reading

A fatal four-car crash occurred late Friday night at the intersection of Main and Hopkins streets in Reading, Massachusetts, when a gray Volvo XC70, reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, ran a red light and struck a green Ford Fusion. The impact caused the Fusion to spin into northbound traffic, where it collided with a gray Audi Q7, while the Volvo also subsequently hit a gray Toyota RAV4. The driver of the Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Volvo and a passenger in the RAV4 were transported to local hospitals with injuries. The incident prompted emergency services to close Main Street in the area and remains under investigation by the Reading Police Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision and Accident Reconstruction Section. Police are seeking additional information from the public as they continue their investigation. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
