Manchester City Signs Dutch Midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan
Manchester City has signed Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan for a fee reportedly up to €70 million, making him the fourth most expensive Dutch transfer ever. The 26-year-old, who was named Serie A’s Best Midfielder for the 2024/25 season after scoring 15 goals, has signed a five-year contract and is expected to debut at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the USA. Reijnders brings versatility, energy, and creativity to City's midfield, potentially easing the workload on key players like Rodri and enhancing the offensive capabilities alongside players such as Phil Foden. This is Manchester City's third signing of the summer as they aim to rebuild after a disappointing third-place finish last season, with Rayan Ait-Nouri and Rayan Cherki also joining. The club’s sporting director highlighted Reijnders' extensive experience and composure as assets that will strengthen the squad under Pep Guardiola. Reijnders expressed excitement about joining one of the world's biggest teams and playing in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of renowned Dutch players.
