Russian Airstrikes Kill 27 in Ukraine, Target Prison Medical Sites

Russian forces launched a series of deadly glide bomb and ballistic missile strikes on Ukrainian civilian sites, including a prison in the Zaporizhzhia region and medical facilities in the Dnipro region, killing at least 27 people and injuring many more. The attack on the Bilenkivska Correctional Colony resulted in the deaths of 16 to 17 inmates, with dozens wounded, while nearby hospitals, including a maternity ward, sustained damage and casualties. Ukrainian officials condemned these strikes as deliberate war crimes targeting civilians and critical infrastructure. Despite these ongoing attacks, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, giving him 10 days to halt the violence or face severe sanctions and tariffs, including potential 100% tariffs on Russian exports like oil. Trump’s administration is considering secondary sanctions against countries purchasing Russian oil, aiming to pressure Russia economically to cease its aggression. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the widespread nature of the strikes, noting that 73 cities, towns, and villages were hit, underscoring the persistent threat to Ukraine’s civilian population.
