Napoli's Kevin De Bruyne Undergoes Successful Surgery After High-Grade Thigh Injury
Napoli midfielder Kevin De Bruyne underwent successful surgery for a high-grade tear of the biceps femoris muscle in his right thigh, an injury he sustained while scoring a penalty in Napoli's 3-1 victory over Inter Milan. The 34-year-old Belgian player was substituted shortly after the injury and taken to hospital for scans that confirmed the severity of the hamstring tear. The surgery took place in Antwerp and was performed with assistance from Napoli's medical staff, after which De Bruyne began the first phase of his rehabilitation in Belgium. Napoli has not provided a specific timeline for his return but estimates suggest a recovery period of around three to five months. De Bruyne, who joined Napoli from Manchester City in June, has a history of hamstring problems and previously underwent surgery in 2023 while at Manchester City. He had scored four goals in eight league appearances this season before the injury.
