Naz Reid’s Sister Fatally Shot, Suspect Charged in New Jersey

Toraya Reid, the 28-year-old older sister of Minnesota Timberwolves star Naz Reid, was fatally shot on September 6 outside an apartment complex in Jackson Township, New Jersey. Shaquille Green, 29, who had been in a dating relationship with Toraya, has been charged with murder and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with her death. Police responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired and found Toraya with multiple gunshot wounds; Green was apprehended nearby after fleeing the scene. Naz Reid, a fan-favorite Timberwolves player and 2024 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, has spoken about Toraya's protective role in their family, describing her as a parental figure to him and their younger sister Jakahya. Naz recently signed a five-year, $125 million contract with the Timberwolves and is recognized both for his on-court performance and community outreach. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation by authorities.
