France Q3 Growth 0.5% Drives Eurozone Expansion
France's economy grew 0.5% in Q3 2025, unexpectedly driving broader EU growth as the eurozone expanded 0.2% quarter-on-quarter and the EU27 grew 0.3%. The French upswing was powered by a 2.2% surge in exports—notably aeronautics—a 0.9% rise in corporate investment and falling imports. Household consumption remained weak at around 0.1%, limiting domestic demand. The political crisis has prompted credit ratings downgrades and continues to raise fiscal-stability concerns, even as officials and policymakers expressed cautious optimism. Economists warned the quarterly surprise should not be read as the start of a sustained growth spurt, and the European Central Bank is expected to keep its key deposit rate steady.
