New Jersey Actor Charged Attempted Homicide Shooting Near Stockton University

Ernest W. Heinz, a 46-year-old actor from Port Republic, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault after allegedly shooting Maritza Arias-Galva in the face during a road rage incident near Stockton University. The shooting prompted a lockdown at the university for nearly three hours as police searched for Heinz, who fled the scene in a white Honda SUV before being apprehended at a residence in Galloway Township. Arias-Galva was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and is currently in stable condition. Police executed multiple search warrants at residences and vehicles linked to Heinz, who faces additional weapons charges. Authorities described the incident as an isolated and random road rage confrontation, with no prior relationship between Heinz and the victim. Heinz is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing.
