Hampshire Sign India All-Rounder Washington Sundar For Final County Championship Matches

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar has signed with Hampshire to play in their final two County Championship matches against Somerset and Surrey. Sundar, 25, recently impressed in India's Test series against England, scoring 284 runs at an average of 47 including his maiden Test century at Old Trafford, and taking seven wickets. This marks his return to county cricket after playing for Lancashire in 2022, where he notably took a five-wicket haul on debut. Hampshire's Director of Cricket, Giles White, highlighted Sundar's excellent recent form and expects him to play a key role in the upcoming crucial fixtures. Sundar's first-class career includes over 1,800 runs at an average of 34 and 91 wickets at an average of 28, with a best bowling figure of 7/59 against New Zealand in 2024.
