Bristol Bears sign Georgia back-row Luka Ivanishvili

Bristol Bears have strengthened their squad with the signing of Luka Ivanishvili, a 23-year-old Georgian international who can play across the back row, joining from Black Lion ahead of the 2025/26 season. Director of rugby Pat Lam praised Ivanishvili's versatility and physicality, highlighting his ability to play at positions six, seven, or eight, and his standout performances, including a strong showing against South Africa at the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Ivanishvili has made 23 appearances for Georgia and scored 11 tries in 30 games at the domestic level, with Bristol beating off French Top 14 competition for his signature. Meanwhile, Bristol Bears are also leading the pursuit of former Wales winger Louis Rees-Zammit, who has announced his return to rugby after an 18-month stint in the NFL. Rees-Zammit had left Gloucester to pursue his NFL dream but struggled to make an impact and is now eager to return to rugby, with Bristol keen to bolster their wing options following recent departures. These signings reflect Bristol Bears' ambition to strengthen their squad depth and competitiveness in the Gallagher Premiership.
