Rivian Supplier Park to Boost Production by 2026
Rivian is investing nearly $120 million in a 1.2 million-square-foot supplier park next to its Normal, Illinois, electric vehicle plant, with $16 million in state incentives. The facility will co-locate key suppliers for light assembly and manufacturing, streamlining parts delivery to Rivian’s main plant via an underground tunnel. The project is set to create about 100 direct jobs initially and is a crucial part of Rivian’s plan to increase annual vehicle production capacity from 150,000 to 215,000 units. This expansion is also central to the launch of Rivian’s upcoming midsize R2 SUV in 2026. Construction is underway and is now expected to be completed in 2026. State and company officials emphasize the move as strengthening Illinois' position in clean energy and advanced manufacturing.
