Memphis Central High Jazz Band Wins International Competition, Holds Spring Concert

Several high school jazz and orchestra programs across the U.S. are showcasing their talents through concerts and competitions this spring. Greenfield-Central High School is hosting its second annual "Jazz in the Park" concert, highlighting students from middle school to seniors preparing for college, and celebrating their recent qualification for the Indiana State Jazz Band State Finals. Carver High School's orchestras are performing a spring concert at the POST Houston cultural venue, featuring diverse performances and special guest artists, supported by the Houston Professional Musicians’ Union. In Memphis, Central High School's jazz band recently won the prestigious 2025 "Essentially Ellington" High School Competition and Festival in New York City, earning multiple top honors and drawing strong community support during their celebratory spring concert. Internationally acclaimed jazz musicians are also gathering for a concert at the Noosa Jazz Club in Australia, offering audiences a mix of swinging jazz standards and Gypsy Jazz classics. These events reflect a vibrant and growing youth jazz scene, emphasizing community engagement and musical excellence.
