Juric, a longtime protégé and former assistant of Gasperini, signed a two-year contract reportedly worth 2 million euros per season plus bonuses, and will lead Atalanta through their upcoming Champions League campaign. Despite a challenging 2024-25 season that saw Juric dismissed after a brief tenure at Roma and relegation with Southampton, Atalanta's management views him as the ideal heir due to his similar football philosophy and close mentorship under Gasperini. Juric’s appointment marks a return to Serie A, where he previously managed Hellas Verona and Torino, and had a short stint at Roma. The decision came after a thorough selection process that considered other candidates like Thiago Motta, Raffaele Palladino, and Patrick Vieira.
