Man Charged With Murder After Fatal Shooting In Allentown Apartment

Adam Makowka, 27, of South Whitehall Township, Pennsylvania, has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, and aggravated assault following a fatal shooting in Allentown. Makowka allegedly entered the home of his ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Jerkera Battle, through a roof access door using a fire escape and shot her multiple times, resulting in her death. He then fired at a man and the victim's 3-month-old infant son in a bedroom; the man intervened by grabbing the rifle barrel, preventing further harm. Police recovered an AR-15 rifle, shell casings, and Makowka's belongings at the scene, and surveillance footage captured his arrival and departure from the apartment. Makowka was apprehended in Lansdowne, Delaware County, about 60 miles away, and is awaiting extradition to Lehigh County. The incident is under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Allentown Police Department, Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, and District Attorney's Office.
