Dr. Caroline Sigman killed in Palo Alto hit-and-run

Dr. Caroline Compton Sigman, a 79-year-old medical researcher and founder of CCS Associates, was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Palo Alto’s Crescent Park neighborhood. The suspect, Ignacio Estrada, 52, was allegedly involved in two hit-and-run incidents that evening, first at Channing Avenue and Middlefield Road, and then at Forest and Lincoln avenues, where Sigman was killed. Estrada fled both scenes but was later arrested near his mobile home and is now facing multiple felony charges, including vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and hit-and-run causing injury. Sigman was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have encouraged witnesses to come forward.
