CBSA Seizes Over 800 Kg Cannabis at Halifax Port Bound for UK

In early September 2025, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seized over 800 kilograms of vacuum-sealed dried cannabis at the Port of Halifax, concealed within wooden crates declared as wire mesh bins destined for the United Kingdom. This seizure included 1,479 packages and was transferred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for further investigation. Despite cannabis being legal in Canada, the cross-border movement remains a criminal offense punishable by significant prison terms under the Customs Act and Cannabis Act, as it often supports organized crime and other illicit activities.
