Volvo, Daimler Truck Launch Software Joint Venture Coretura in Sweden
Volvo Group and Daimler Truck have launched a joint venture called Coretura AB, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, to develop a software-defined vehicle platform aimed at transforming the commercial vehicle industry. The initiative seeks to reduce reliance on traditional suppliers by creating a unified software platform, enabling smarter, more connected, and efficient commercial vehicles while setting a new industry standard. Coretura will begin operations with 50 employees and aims to deliver its first connectivity platform by 2027, with additional deliveries expected later in the decade. Both companies emphasize the strategic importance of software in achieving sustainability, productivity, and safety goals in future commercial vehicles. This partnership builds on previous collaborations between Volvo and Daimler in areas like charging infrastructure and hydrogen fuel cells, reflecting a broader trend toward integrating advanced technology in the automotive sector. The joint venture represents a significant industry shift toward software-driven innovation and cost reduction in commercial vehicle manufacturing.
