Philadelphia, Belfast Extend Bus Lane Hours To Enhance Transit Efficiency

Philadelphia and Belfast are both implementing changes to bus lane operations to improve transit efficiency and traffic flow. In Philadelphia, PennDOT and city officials are installing red bus-only lanes on three critical transit corridors as part of scheduled repaving projects to enhance bus reliability and reduce improper use of bus lanes. Meanwhile, Belfast and Carryduff have extended the operating hours of several bus lanes to peak morning and afternoon times to help buses avoid congestion and improve punctuality, especially before Christmas. Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins emphasized that the extended hours aim to give buses enhanced priority and urged drivers to adhere to the new rules to maintain traffic flow.
