Juneteenth Celebrations Expected Across Multiple US Communities June 19-21

Across the United States, communities are gearing up to celebrate Juneteenth, the holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Oak Ridge will host a city-wide event featuring live music, carnival games, and educational activities to honor freedom and activism. Similarly, Hood River’s Black in the Gorge organization is holding its 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration to foster community connections and raise scholarship funds. Tigard's celebration includes a one-mile walk and live entertainment at Cook Family Park, while Xenia’s event at Lexington Park will feature a balloon launch tribute, gospel dance, and prayers to remember those who suffered under slavery. In Savannah, the first-ever Derby Hat Kickback is planned at the Savannah Country Club, combining music, food, and a derby hat contest to mark the occasion.
