Apple Unveils iOS 26 With New Naming Scheme

At WWDC 2025, Apple introduced iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26, all featuring the new 'Liquid Glass' design and enhanced capabilities like multitasking and live translation. The company announced a new OS naming convention to match the release year, discontinuing the previous version sequence. Developer betas are now available, with public betas expected in July and the general release planned for September. Some older devices, including the seventh-generation iPad and iPhone XR/XS series, will not support these updates. Users with unsupported devices will continue to receive security updates for a limited time but will not have access to new features such as Genmoji and the updated Control Center. Apple advises users to back up their devices before installing beta software due to potential instability.
