Construction Begins on Multiple New UK SEND and Primary Schools

Several new and upgraded school projects are underway across the UK to address growing demand and improve educational facilities, particularly for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). At Hilltop School in Rotherham, a £3 million refurbishment is replacing outdated classrooms with accessible spaces, including a new trampoline therapy center, to better serve over 180 students with complex needs. In Gloucester, a new £19.5 million SEND school designed to achieve net zero emissions is being built to accommodate 200 children with moderate and additional learning difficulties, aiming to provide education closer to home. Meanwhile, the Great Haddon urban extension in Peterborough is set to open a new primary school and nursery by September next year, catering to 420 pupils and about 50 nursery children as part of a larger residential development. In Stirling, Scotland, construction began on Corbiewood Primary School, the first new school in the area since 1996, designed to serve a growing community and connected by active travel routes; this project is part of a larger development that includes nearly 800 new homes. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to investing in infrastructure that supports education and community development amid population growth and rising needs.
