OMDAI Blames Lawson After Marshal Near-Miss

At the Mexico City Grand Prix, Liam Lawson narrowly avoided colliding with two marshals after rejoining the track from an early pit stop to replace a damaged front wing following contact with Carlos Sainz. He told his team over the radio he 'could have f------ killed' the marshals. Mexico’s motorsport federation OMDAI released onboard images and screenshots and publicly blamed Lawson for failing to slow or change his line under double-waved yellow flags, saying he maintained his steering angle while marshals crossed the track. The FIA has opened an investigation and said marshals were initially dispatched to clear debris but the order was rescinded once it became clear Lawson had pitted and double yellows were displayed; officials are probing why marshals remained on track and why the sequence was not captured on the world feed.
