Royal Mail Releases UK Duck Species Stamp Collection

Royal Mail is celebrating the diversity of wild and domesticated ducks found across the UK with a new set of stamps featuring 10 different species, including the Aylesbury duck, mallard duckling, Indian runner, goosander, and eider. The stamps were developed in collaboration with duck experts such as Professor Steve Ormerod and waterfowl author Dr. Chris Ashton to ensure accuracy and highlight the unique characteristics of these birds. With over 120 duck species worldwide and 22 found in the UK, the collection aims to raise awareness of both common and lesser-known species, emphasizing their ecological and cultural significance. Ducks are noted for their elegant presence in various habitats, from local ponds to coastal estuaries, and their role in human history through domestication for food and pest control. Royal Mail hopes this initiative will inspire people to learn more about ducks and appreciate the rich wetland wildlife in the UK. These stamps can be purchased online individually or as a set.
