House Oversight Subpoenas Epstein Estate for Client Lists, Documents
The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, has subpoenaed the estate of Jeffrey Epstein as part of an ongoing investigation into the handling of the federal sex-trafficking case involving Epstein. The subpoena demands a wide range of documents, including Epstein's will, financial records, contact books, flight logs, and a notable 'birthday book' compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell that reportedly contains letters from high-profile friends, including a letter from President Trump when he was a private citizen. Comer also requested any documents that could be considered a potential list of clients involved in Epstein's sex trafficking operations, responding to contradictions from the Justice Department regarding the existence of such a list. Additionally, Alexander Acosta, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida and Labor Secretary during Trump's first term, who approved Epstein's controversial 2007 plea deal, is scheduled for a voluntary transcribed interview with the committee. The investigation seeks to uncover possible mismanagement of the federal probe, connections to sex trafficking rings, and any potential ethical violations related to elected officials. The estate must comply with the subpoena by September 8, while Acosta's interview is set for September 19.
