Cappadocia Joins Michelin Guide Expanding Türkiye Culinary Map

Cappadocia has been officially included in the prestigious MICHELIN Guide 2026, marking it as the fourth Turkish region to receive this recognition after Istanbul, Izmir, and Muğla. This inclusion highlights Türkiye's rising prominence in global gastronomy tourism, with a culinary tradition rooted deeply in local agriculture, seasonal ingredients, and centuries of cultural heritage from civilizations such as the Hittites, Romans, Seljuks, and Ottomans. Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy praised the achievement as a proud moment that underscores the country's progress in culinary tourism. MICHELIN Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec emphasized the region's rich culinary diversity, noting chefs' use of local produce and traditional cooking methods like tandoor-roasting and fermentation. The first MICHELIN Guide restaurant selections for Cappadocia, alongside updates for other Turkish regions, will be announced at a ceremony in Istanbul on December 4, 2025. With its unique natural beauty and now acknowledged gastronomy, Cappadocia is poised to become an even more compelling destination for international travelers.
