Hollywood actor Glen Powell is filming the upcoming sci-fi fantasy movie Ghostwriter in Glasgow, directed by J.J. Abrams and produced by Warner Bros. The film features an all-star cast including Powell, Jenna Ortega, Emma Mackey, and Samuel L. Jackson, and is rumored to be an 80s-inspired story about a fantasy author who discovers the fictional world he created is real. Various locations across Glasgow, including Newton Street, Bothwell Street, and areas around the Kingston Bridge, have been transformed to reflect a retro-fantasy 1980s aesthetic, with several streets closed to facilitate filming. The production has brought significant economic benefits to Glasgow and showcases the city's growing appeal as a film hub, supported by the Glasgow Film Office and new local studio facilities.
