Indonesian President Prabowo Begins First State Visit Singapore

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is making his first state visit to Singapore on June 16, 2025, marking his first official trip since taking office in October 2024. During the visit, President Prabowo will receive a ceremonial welcome at Parliament House, call on Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who will host a state banquet in his honor, and attend the eighth annual Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. This retreat, the highest-level bilateral platform, will be the first for both leaders in their current capacities and will focus on reviewing and enhancing cooperation in key areas such as defense, the green economy, connectivity, and economic investments. The visit also follows recent agreements between the two countries on cross-border electricity trade, carbon capture and storage, and sustainable industrial zones, reflecting a longstanding and strategic partnership. President Prabowo is accompanied by a large ministerial delegation, including key ministers from economic, energy, and foreign affairs sectors, emphasizing the visit's significance for deepening bilateral ties.
