Deputy Fatally Shoots Man in Domestic Stabbing

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy fatally shot 20-year-old Alonzo Riser after the deputy witnessed him stabbing his father, Tyrone Riser, with a sword during a domestic violence incident in West Palm Beach in the early hours of April 26. Despite orders to drop the weapon, Alonzo refused, prompting the deputy to fire; both men died from their injuries despite immediate medical aid. Authorities revealed Tyrone Riser had previously sought legal guardianship of his son due to Alonzo's health issues, including epilepsy and autism. Other family members were present during the altercation. The deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, and the incident is under investigation by multiple agencies. This is the second officer-involved shooting in Palm Beach County in 2025.
